Nine is sneezing, and appears to be upset. One asks him what's wrong. Nine tells her that every time he sneezes, he always gets one smaller. He sneezes out his middle block, turning into Eight, then reassembles. Nine wonders why he can't ever get one bigger. One tells Nine that maybe he can, and asks him to stand tall, adding up with him.
Ten goes to the magic mirror to duplicate herself.
Nine excitedly tells Ten she's one bigger. One asks Ten why she has a number 1 on top. In a song, Ten explains to One she's made of 10 blocks and she's one 10. Then One asks Ten what the "round thing" is next to Ten's 1 on her numberling. Ten explains that it's called a Zero, which means 10 has a number 1 in the tens place, and the 0 keeps the 1 there. The song continues.

This is the first time Nine is arranged vertically.
The concept of step squads and step-shaped numbers as a whole is hinted at when Ten says "when you need to go upstairs".
This is the first episode with all the Orange Level 2 characters.
Even though this episode debuts the "0" numeral, the debut for the character is a Red Level episode, called Zero.

When Nine sneezes into Eight and One, Eight only has only 4 normal limbs.
When Ten arranges herself into her 2x5 form for the first time, her limbs are grey and her red sides are white for a split second. This is likely a rendering error.
