“ | Octoblock, run! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, run! | ” |
— Eight, Eight (episode) |
Eight, or 8, is a character who appeared in Numberblocks. He is well known for his alter-egos, Octoblock and Octonaughty.
Eight first appears in the episode with the same name.
He is voiced by Marcel McCalla.
Appearance[]
Eight is made up of 8 bright magenta/hot pink blocks, with 8 octopus-like limbs of which he uses six for arms and two for legs (mostly used in a 2x4 arrangement). He wears a purple infinity symbol-shaped mask with 8 spikes, 4 on each side.
Starting from Series 3, Eight's superhero mask and mouth are lighter.
Starting at "Now in 3D", whenever Eight transforms into a cube, he gains a bright magenta/hot pink cube symbol above his eyes.
Personality[]
As the superhero Octoblock, Eight has a rather brave and heroic personality, narrowing down to helping others in need with numerous different abilities that he can use at his disposal for different situations, as well as being very reliable in thwarting the schemes of his enemy, Octonaughty.
Octoblock's helpfulness is showcased in Fluffies, where he helps get rid of the Fluffies that are latched onto the four Sevens, in Building Blocks where he helps build the tower to get an alien to their home planet, and in episodes like Nine, Blast Off, Numberblock Castle, Peekaboo! and Flatland (although it wasn't really him, it was Octagon) where he is proud to help the others get to places that they couldn't without him.
He is also shown to be rather skilled in sports, as shown in The Two Tree, where he manages to throw the Two through another Eight's hole with ease.
Despite being a superhero, he isn't very bright, as seen in Puzzle Square where he tries pushing the door right after the six Sixes told him how to open it, and especially in Octoblock and the Path of Justice where he has trouble reading maps.
As of The Alphablocks and Numberblocks crossover special: Crossover, he and X are friends.

Trivia[]
- Eight is very obviously inspired by Spider-Man. As seen in Now We Are Six to Ten, where he even has a backstory that parodies Spider-Man's backstory.
- In Octoblock to the Rescue!, his Octo-Signal is a parody of Batman's Bat-Signal, and Octonite is a parody of Superman's kryptonite.
- Octonaughty can generate signals too, but only did that in Now in 3D.
- In Octoblock to the Rescue!, his Octo-Signal is a parody of Batman's Bat-Signal, and Octonite is a parody of Superman's kryptonite.
- Eight's catchphrase is "Octoblock, (command), 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8, (said command)!"
- Octonaughty's catchphrase is "Octonaughty, (command), 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, (said command)!" However, this only happened in one episode.
- Eight (debatably) said Octonaughty's command in Double Back.
- Octonaughty's catchphrase is "Octonaughty, (command), 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, (said command)!" However, this only happened in one episode.
- It is possible that Eight's mask is part of his real eyes. This is supported by the fact that he still had them as a civilian, but contradicted by his official profile referring to it as his “superhero mask.”
- Eight is the only Numberblock greater than 5 who made more than 3 arrangements in the first series.
- Eight had a continuous error where he had 4 normal limbs, especially whenever Nine sneezes. The episodes Eight had the error are below.
- Nine, Ten, Just Add One, The Three Threes, and other episodes.
- The only time where it wasn't when Nine sneezed was in Odds and Evens, Mirror, Mirror, and other episodes.
- The first time where it is intentional is during Now We Are Six To Ten. It is unknown if it is intentional in Fun Times One Times Table; however, due to his length (8x1), it can be assumed it was intentional.
- Eight is currently the only cube number to be male.
- Eight makes the most 3D shapes out of all the primary Numberblocks.
- Starting from Series 3, Eight has a lighter-coloured mask and slightly smaller eyes. However, his old appearance is still seen in the intro and even on his player card during The Team Factor.
- According to Now We Are Six to Ten, Eight wasn't Octoblock until he got tickled by a radioactive octopus.
- Eight is the first Numberblock to make diagonal shapes (his "Bend" Form (zigzag) and his "Pop" form (which is just the donut, or square-with-hole, but diagonal).
- The LearningBlocks.tv website's description of Eight is: "Numberblock Eight is known by his superhero name: Octoblock. He’s got eight arms (or are they legs?) and when he needs to run fast, swim a long way, climb up high, knit in a hurry or more he changes shape to activate a unique special power each time: Octoblock Run! 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 Run!"[3]
- He has appeared in 60.14% of Numberblocks episodes, including the crossover specials.
