Shades of the Forest (also known as Shades of You on YouTube), is the nineteenth episode of the first series of Colourblocks. It is the nineteenth episode overall.

Synopsis[]

Green is surprised when Black and White arrive in her forest.

Plot[]

Green is by herself, colouring the plants in the forest, when a frog emerges and begins to follow her along. Unbeknownst to them, Black and White were also following them.

Green jokes to the frog about colouring a plant red instead of green, and does some more colouring. After passing a bush, Black sneaks out and colours the bush, making it a dark green. After Black goes back into hiding, the frog notices the mysterious dark green plant, getting Green's attention. Curious, Green hopes that the two of them encounter more dark green down the line. Black and White chuckle, plotting to do more.

Next, Green climbs a vine in order to reach and colour all of its leaves. After leaving, Black and White emerge again. This time, White colours the leaves, making them light green. Black and White go into hiding again, but they didn't realise that the frog had watched White colour the leaves this time. The frog gets Green's attention again, and she gets excited about the light green. The frog also communicates to Green that it saw who is responsible for the lighter green, and Green whispers a plan to catch them.

Leapfrogging over each other, Black and White continue to darken and lighten some bushes, until Green and the frog pop out of one to catch them. Startled, Black and White guiltily hide their hands, but Green apologises for startling them.

Green learns of their names, Black and White, and is told that they're colours as well. The two of them demonstrate their colouring abilities: Black colours a cat black, and White colours some of its features. Green comments that, respectively, Black and White are the darkest and lightest colours she's ever seen.

Green also wants to try mixing her colour with theirs, so she colours a set of five large leaves green. White colours two of the leaves to make them light green, whilst Black colours two of the leaves dark green. White and Black also colour the last of their leaves one additional time, making one leaf a very light green and another a very dark Green.

Green invites Black and White to add some light and shade to the entire forest, which they happily accept as all of them continue colouring the forest. Green also finds two other frogs to colour, and as Black and White make them darker and lighter, she chants, "Dark green!" and "Light green!"

Having made the forest beautifully light and dark, Green mentions Black and White meeting the other colours, and they chuckle excitedly, ending the episode.

Characters[]

Mixes[]

  • Green + Black = Dark Green
  • Green + White = Light Green
  • Dark Green + Black = Darker Green
    • When you mix dark green with black, you get an even darker shade of green. The addition of black intensifies the darkness and richness of the green color. The resulting colour will be a deep, almost blackened green tone. The exact shade of darker green will depend on the specific dark green hue and the amount of black added. Mixing black with any colour tends to create a darker and more muted version of that colour.
  • Light Green + White = Lighter Green
    • When you mix light green with white, you'll get an even lighter shade of green. The resulting colour will be a paler, more subdued green tone. The specific shade of lighter green will depend on the original light green hue and the amount of white added. Mixing white with any colour generally results in a lighter, pastel version of that color.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first time where Black and White appear alongside another Colourblock.
  • This is the first, if not the only episode where shades mix with an already dark/light colour to make them even darker and lighter.
  • Green seems to be able to understand Black and White without their speakers.
  • On the YouTube channel, it's video was called "Shades of You". It is unknown if it was an error or a working title.
