Nine is the fourth episode of the second series of Numberblocks. It is the nineteenth episode overall.

Synopsis[]

Numberblock Nine arrives in Numberland, finds a friend in Four, sings a song about squares... and sneezes!

Characters[]

Plot[]

Four is upset that he is the only square Numberblock in the world. He sulks, but Eight tries to help him by arranging himself into a square, until Four and One point out that he is a square with a hole. One sees this and fits in.

Four is excited to see Nine and shows him the magic mirror and creates another Nine, who starts to sneeze out his middle block.

Both Four and Nine are square Numberblocks, due to them both having four sides and four corners. Four asks him why he has a number 9 on top. Nine explains in song that he is 3 rows of 3 blocks by 3, and Four is 2 blocks by 2.

As the episode ends, Nine starts sneezing again, but Four gives him a hanky, and together the two of them say "Squares!"

Math Magic[]

8 + 1 = 9 (segment)

9 - 1 = 8 (segment)

Trivia[]

  • Song: That's Why You're Square Like Me
  • This is the first episode since Series 1 Teresa Gallagher (voice of Six and Ten) doesn't do any voice work for an entire episode.
  • In the promo for Series 2, Eight's line, "How's this?" is used in a clip in the episode Eight where Eight says "Octoblock, swim!"
  • The instrumental version of the song can be heard in 9's games in the game Numberblocks Make & Play.
  • This is the first episode where a Numberblock isn’t formed in their vertical position.
  • Four and Nine are square through the whole episode.
  • This is the only episode where a Numberblock cries.
  • Four is sad that he is the only square Numberblock in the whole world, despite the fact that One is also a square. This is because he didn't learn that One is indeed a square Numberblock as her eye until Square Club. However, he painted Numberblock One with a square eye in his episode.
  • This episode teaches not only about the number 9, but it also teaches columns and rows like in Twelve's episode, despite this episode being in Orange Level Two.
  • In release order, this is the first Numberblock debut episode where not all the Numberblocks so far appear in. In this case, Five, Six and Seven are absent in this episode.
  • Teresa Gallagher has her name credited, despite not doing any voices for this episode.

Errors[]

  • When Nine sneezes the second time, Eight has four normal limbs and his eyes are enlarged.
