- Like the other achromatic colours, except for Black and Grey, their gender is unknown.
- They are so far the only character to outright have the word "dark" in their name.
- Before they were properly introduced, their colour was shown in Grey and Many Mixes Make Brown, although that was an error.
- In art, dark grey can be used for black things if there are black details that will become invisible in a solid black. This is probably why Black sometimes colours things dark grey.
- Along with the other greys and Lime, they are the only characters who are introduced by mixing but have never fell from the sky.
- They are one of the three Colourblocks to not have a Crayola colour named after them, the others are Light Grey and Deep Blue.
- Dark Grey's colour can also be referred to as Charcoal.
