Blast Off is the seventh episode of the second season of Numberblocks. It is the 22nd episode overall.

Synopsis[]

Ten promises to take the others on a trip to the moon, but blasts off on her own. How will they get there? Find out which pairs of numbers add together to make ten with the Numberblocks.

Story[]

One evening, Numberblock One is looking at the moon. "One marvelous moon! One day I'll go into space," she says, and she starts jumping to get to the moon. Then Numberblocks 2-10 join her. "You'll never get to the moon that way, One," says Ten, as she puts on her space helmet. "Just count down from 10 to 1."

"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, blast off!"

Ten rockets to the moon. "I'm on the moon, my friends Nine and One will be there soon," says Ten.

"We're on the moon," say Nine and One. Suddenly, nine aliens pop out. Nine counts them. Then one more appears, which makes ten.

"Number ten, back on the moon!" says Ten. Maybe two of her friends can help the aliens get back home.

Eight counts eight aliens, and Two notices there's no room in the saucer for the remaining two aliens. Eight builds another spaceship and the last two aliens boarded the other ship, but the ship with 8 aliens is too heavy.

"Here I am, number Ten!" says Ten. She splits into Seven and Three to try to help

Seven and Three move the aliens around. Now there are seven aliens in one spaceship and three aliens in the other. They try to take off, but the spaceship with seven aliens is still too heavy.

"It's Ten again, wait and see, who my next two friends will be!" says Ten. She then splits into Six and Four.

Six and Four move one alien across ships. Now there are six aliens in one spaceship and four aliens in the other. They try to take off, but the spaceship with six aliens is still too heavy.

"Quick, before out visit ends, we've just got time for two more friends!" says Ten.

Five and Five split the aliens equally, so there are five aliens in one spaceship and five aliens in the other. "Let's give them a hand," says the Fives, and they push the aliens into space. It worked - the ships fly away.

Ten rockets back home as the episode ends.

Notes[]

  • One's line "One small step for a number, one giant hop for number kind", refers to Neil Armstrong's quote when he sets his first foot on the moon.
  • In the scene with Six and Four, the spaceships shooting pixel aliens might be a reference to the game Space Invaders.
    • Space Invaders was also referenced in Heroes with Zeroes, after Sixty said “Galactic game-over!”
  • Four and Eight are the only Numberblocks who have at least two arrangements in this episode.
  • This is the first time Ten stays arranged vertically through the entire episode.
  • This is the first time Nine doesn't sneeze. This might be because he stays arranged vertically in this episode too.
    • This is also the first time Nine isn't seen arranged in a square throughout an episode.
  • The aliens from this episode are used in Ten's colouring game in the game Numberblocks Make & Play.
  • The story and images for this episode are seen in pages 27-30 of the CBeebies Special Magazine Issue 502.
    • However, in this version, the aliens speak.
