Alphablocks is a CBeebies show animated by Blue-Zoo Productions and Alphablocks Ltd.

Alphablocks stars eponymous blocks with letters of the alphabet. When the Alphablocks hold hands to make a word, it magically appears.

Alphablocks originally ran from the 25th of January, 2010 to the 2nd of July, 2013. Additionally, eight specials aired from late-2021 to early-2022, four of which were crossovers with Numberblocks. It is currently pending for revival coming later this year, persumably.[1]

The show has 95 episodes including 91 regular episodes and 4 specials. They are available to watch online on BBC iPlayer and the official Alphablocks YouTube channel.

On August 17, 2024, it was announced a Series 5 for this show, and is scheduled up for a 2025-2027 release.

Notes

  • Alphablocks is the first (and oldest) Learningblocks show.
  • It is the only Learningblocks show to follow the "13 or 26 episodes per season" format rather than the "15 or 30 episodes per season" format that Numberblocks and Colourblocks has. Coincidentally, there are 26 letters in the alphabet.
  • Like Numberblocks and Colourblocks, Alphablocks episodes are mostly five minutes long (except for Series 1).
  • This show has the least amount of voice actors; with only David Holt, Lizzie Waterworth and Teresa Gallagher performing for the show.
  • Some voice actors from Alphablocks would later voice some Numberblocks, specifically David Holt and Teresa Gallagher.
  • The show has the longest hiatus between episodes, being 8 years, 3 months and 2 weeks between Cowboy and Band Together.
  • It would take roughly 8 hours and 23 minutes to watch all the Series 1-4 and special episodes of the show.
  1. Numberblocks and friends will be returning as part of a four year output plan for the Blocks universe, following BBC Children’s and Education investment in multiple series in the Blocks franchise. Produced by Alphablocks Ltd and Blue Zoo animation studios, the order will include a second series of Colourblocks, further series of both Numberblocks and Alphablocks, as well as brand new title Thinkingblocks which introduces coding to a preschool audience.
